 Having unruly or over-tweezed eyebrows is like putting a damaged roof over a beautiful home. It ruins the overall appearance.
When it comes to eyebrows, many people struggle to find the right shape, size, and color. However, getting the perfect eyebrow creates symmetry and weight that balances the face and gives a more natural, youthful look. Strong eyebrows help to create an equilibrium with the chin, making your eyes and facial structure appear more defined.
As a general rule of thumb, the brow should follow the natural arch of the brow bone. The size of your brows should correlate with the size of your face structure. If you have a wide or round face, the eyebrows should be a bit thicker. If you have a narrow or petite face, the size of the brows will be a bit more defined.
No matter what face shape you have, steer clear of OVER-TWEEZING the brows! This is not a good look for anyone. Let brows fill out as naturally as possible, only tweezing stray hairs that grow between brows or far underneath your arch. If you have the opposite problem, bald spots or little re-growth, fill in the brows about 2 shades darker than your hair color.
Symmetry is key when dealing with your eyebrows put please keep in mind that your eyebrows are like sisters, not twins! They will never be perfectly even with one another. If you are having difficulty finding the right brow structure for your face, we are always here to help!

Believe it or not, we see it quite often: clients coming in for their waxing with hair that is TOO SHORT! Did you know the length of your hairs is the key component to a flawless wax?
Read on to let us help you determine the perfect length that will save time, money, and razorburn (ouch!).
Here are a few quick ways to check and see if your hair is ready for removal:
- Hair should be about 1/4 – 1/2 inch long. A good way to test this is to see if your hair covers at least half to three-quarters of your pinky finger nail.
- If you trim or shave, let hair grow approximately 2 weeks before getting waxed. Two weeks of growth is usually the minimum amount of time needed for the proper length of hair. We know you might be thinking- “UGH! That’s so long!”, but trust us, growing it out the FIRST time is definitely the worst. It gets better as you wax!
- Please do NOT shave or trim the hair prior to your waxing, even if you feel it is too long. If the hair is shaved/trimmed too short, the wax will not be able to grab onto the hair and you will not be able to get waxed.
Below is an example of hair that is TOO SHORT to get waxed
Although this re-growth may look long enough to wax, it is best to let it grow about twice this length. If the hair is too short, like the picture above, the wax will not be able to grab onto it, resulting in left-over little hairs. That’s not a smooth wax!
Patience is a virtue when it comes to hair removal…but we promise the wax is worth the wait!! And in the end, you will thank yourself…and us

 For many of us, the thought of swapping out our winter coats for bathing suits can be quite daunting- especially if you skipped out on your waxing (and dieting) over the holidays But with Spring weather right around the corner, now is the perfect time to get on a regular waxing routine so you are ready to show off that smooth, tan skin!
We know it can be a little unsatisfying to grow your hair out, especially when the temperature rises, but there are many benefits to waxing versus other forms of hair removal.
Waxing is a long-lasting method and it is effective to remove large amounts of hair. Hair in waxed areas is absent for longer periods of time, which is great during those much needed vacations and beloved summer activities. Although shaving is a quick-fix, it can be painful, irritating, and the stubble may reappear as soon as you have that 5:00 cocktail.
Starting a waxing schedule now gives you plenty of time to reduce and slow down hair growth before you slip into your beachwear. Waxing is a great method of hair removal because you will notice your hair growing back much softer due to the weakened hair follicles.
After a few quick appointments, you will also notice your hair thinning out and becoming sparse. In addition to soft, fine hair, waxing helps to regulate your hair cycles so you can have smooth, hair-free skin for longer periods of time.

 In today’s day and age, hair removal seems to be more popular than ever. But was it always this way? When we think back to prehistoric times, the image of a beastly caveman comes to mind with hair from head to toe. However, this was not always the case. The removal of facial and body hair dates back as early as 30,000 BC!!
Whatever your reason is for getting rid of it, there is no denying it has become a major trend over the past couple decades. In a 1915 edition of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, a model was featured showing bare shoulders and underarms. This prompted a campaign convincing women that underarm hair was neither feminine nor hygienic. Within two years, removing underarm hair became the norm.
Waxing is a relatively new form of hair removal, but it too, dates back as far as Ancient Egyptian times. Women during this era would mix sticky substances such as oil, honey and sugar together to get rid of those pesky unwanted hairs.
However, it wasn’t until the 60’s that waxing became the new trend- with the invention of the classic bikini. After this, women began experimenting and in 1994 the first Brazilian wax was introduced- quickly becoming the most popular service amongst hair removal specialists. Just last year, we did over 4,700 Brazilians!!
We aren’t exactly sure what the future holds as far as trends in facial and body hair, but we can guarantee to meet all your waxing needs, especially in those intimate places. What an amazing year!! As OC Waxing transitions into 2012, I’d like to take a moment and thank all of you for making last year so special. There has been so much exciting growth for the OC Waxing family since last January- and we owe it all to our wonderful clients!!
Over the past year, we have expanded our salon by adding two additional service rooms- which resulted in a bigger (and greater!) team of girls. Last year also brought some personal blessings, such as an engagement for Cristina, a beautiful baby girl for Pia, and an adorable puppy for Cami.
With more space and one-of-a- kind waxologists, OC Waxing was able to accommodate more clients and meet some truly amazing people. OC Waxing also hosted our first annual Bald for Boobs charity event to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness in October. It was a fun filled day of waxing (obviously!), raffles, and shopping, and with the help of the community, we were able to raise nearly $3,000!!
Our clients are some of the greatest people we know and I feel so fortunate to have a salon in this awesome community. As for the upcoming year, my staff and I will be hard at work with our own product line, opening a new location, and taking over the Orange County area- one hair at a time!
As the owner of OC Waxing & Aesthetics, it is my goal to keep providing the BEST waxing services possible, with top of the line products, a professional and friendly staff, and a comfortable salon environment that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
